A diagnostic fee that is credited

Tracing an electrical fault can take two hours and end at a blown fuse. You set a fixed test fee that is charged when the customer declines the repair and credited when they approve it. The term appears on the job from intake, so it has been said before the work starts.

When the diagnosis is done you send a quote with a cost and a timeframe. The customer answers from their phone and the answer is recorded on the repair with a date.

Fault codes and warning lights on the job

The vehicle checklist arrives with your points ready: OBD codes, warning lights, battery, lights, wipers. Anything else you measure you add yourself, and it stays on the list for every following vehicle in the same category.

QR photos are just as useful here: the diagnostic screen, the burnt contact, the loom before you touch it. They land on the job and evidence the finding, particularly when the repair is declined and the car leaves.

Batteries, alternators and starters in stock

Parts hold a code, a price and a quantity. When they go into a job they leave stock and their cost is written onto the repair, so you can see what each replacement left you.

Warranty is set per quote line: one duration for a battery, another for a loom repair. The customer gets a warranty note with the details of the repair, and when the car comes back the claim is recorded against the original work.

Hybrid and electric vehicles

At intake the fuel field is a closed list where hybrid and electric are their own options. Your history then shows how many such vehicles come through and what work they ask for, without you having to mark them in a comment.

The digital client list for an auto electrician

Repair of the electrical system of vehicles (codes 45.20.12 and 45.20.22) is in the annex to A.1057/2025. All four reporting moments apply: entry, service category, exit, correlation with the tax document.

The service category is derived from the repair itself. A job with no parts is transmitted as "without parts", a battery replacement as "with parts". It is not something to remember at the exit.

The digital work card
